Brandon Gonzalez is a 2018 RHP/SS with a 5-11 160 lb. frame from Houston, TX who attends Cypress Ridge HS. Medium athletic build, square shoulders, plenty of room to get stronger. Easy and repeatable mechanics, good extension out front on release, low effort arm stroke, high 3/4's release. Steady low 80's fastball, topped out at 83 mph, mostly straight but fills up the zone with his fastball and challenges hitters. Curveball is slow but has good spin and depth and is also throw for strikes, keeps hitters off balance. Firm change up. Has an idea how to pitch. 7.29 runner, shows his athleticism well on defense, easy actions with good footwork and a quick release, makes accurate throws. Right handed hitter, fluid swing with a good shift into contact, hits the ball out front with a quick line drive swing. Potential two-way prospect especially if he can get a bit stronger. Good student.
