Ryan Garton is a 2018 OF/RHP with a 6-1 185 lb. frame from Goshen, NY who attends Goshen Central. Medium, athletic frame with square shoulders and nice present strength proportioned throughout frame. Ran a 5.25 40-yard dash. Primary outfielder, fields the ball close to body, takes short and quick steps moving towards the ball, compact arm stroke through the back side, overall actions will continue to develop, gets on top of throws well. Graded out higher as a pitcher in this look, similar short and compact arm action before working to a three-quarters arm slot, tight release, front side opens early but helps create cut action to fastball with finish. Topped out at 82 mph, repeats delivery well and pitched to contact, mixed in a nice 11-5 curveball for strikes with tight rotation at 73 mph. Righthanded hitter, begins with a narrow stance in the box with a medium hand set. Moving parts to swing but repeats it well, creates extension out front and gets the barrel to the ball. Full swing path through the zone, nice bat speed and showed strength off the barrel, comfort hitting to the pull side and can create line drive contact. Very good student.
