Mikael Roldan is a 2018 C with a 5-11 166 lb. frame from Caguas, PR who attends Esc. Manuela Toro Moris. Medium frame with a lean, athletic build and wiry strength. Ran a 7.59 sixty-yard dash. Primary catcher with a slightly side set, low stance while setting up to receive. Receives the baseball with two hands and works through transfer with quick, clean exchanges. Gain ground to the bag well and flashed solid arm strength to the bag at release. Topped at 78 miles per hour with a best pop time of 1.94. Also worked out defensively from the infield, surrounds the baseball well and funnels the baseball out front cleanly. Generated very good momentum through the baseball while releasing from a high three-quarters arm slot. Topped at 85 miles per hour across the infield with on line carry to the bag. Right handed hitter with an upright, slightly open stance. Produced some shift into contact with linear lower half actions. Barrel comes through the zone on a level, line drive plane creating good extension through contact. Stayed balanced and behind contact well with the ability to repeat hand and barrel path consistently. Power potential will continue to develop with further implementation of lower half.
