2017 Midwest Top Prospect Showcase
Evan Jordan is a 2018 OF/RHP with a 5-11 180 lb. frame from Champaign, IL who attends Champaign Centennial. Medium frame with a lean, athletic build and wiry strength. Frame projects for additional strength while maintaining athleticism. Primary outfielder with smooth paced, deliberate footwork while closing to the baseball. Funnels the baseball cleanly and worked through exchange with quick, fluid actions. Long arm circle at separation and released from a high three-quarters slot. Throws produced stiff on line carry to the bag topping at 89 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with a slightly crouched, balanced stance and simple leg lift trigger. Works to contact with rotational lower half actions. Inside hand path to baseball with a line drive barrel plane through extension. Showed good feel for the barrel and consistently worked to all fields. Flashed the present bat speed to turn the barrel to contact and work to the pull side gap with authority. Also pitched utilizing a simple rock step to high leg lift delivery. Stays tall with slight coil over back leg. Utilized lower half well while working to the plate with drop and drive actions. Quick arm circle at take back and released from a high three-quarters slot. Fastball created good downhill plane through the zone with some heavy run to arm side int he low to mid 80's, topped at 85 miles per hour. Curveball had 11/5 shape with tight spin and some depth in the low 70's. Showed developing feel for fastball with the ability to consistently located to the edges when repeating tempo and arm action. Very good student. Named to the 2017 Midwest Top Prospect Showcase, Top Prospect List.
