Mario Lopez is a 2007 OF/P/SS from Ft. Myers High School in Cape Coral, FL, with a strong 5'10'', 185 lb. frame. Defensively he moves well to the ball and showed solid arm speed. At the plate he is a right handed hitter with an upright and slightly closed stance and takes a long stride. Lopez has hand strength and shows strength and power when he makes contact. His long stride lowers his eye level causing him to make inconsistent contact. On the mound he throws with an over the top arm slot and a full wind up. Lopez has a short arm circle on the back side and stays balanced in his delivery. His fastball topped out at 75 mph with arm side life, and he also mixed in a slow curveball with an 11 to 5 break. Lopez is also an excellent student.
