2017 South Top Prospect Showcase
Thomas Miller is a 2018 1B/RHP/3B with a 6-2 200 lb. frame from Mansfield, TX who attends Nolan Catholic HS. Large frame with broad shoulders and a strong build. Worked out defensively from the infield and first base showing deliberate footwork while ranging for and surrounding the baseball. Funnels the baseball cleanly from a slightly deeper position. Works through exchange with smooth paced, fluid actions and released from a compact three-quarters slot. Right handed hitter with an upright, slightly open stance and high back elbow set. Creates slight hand coil at load and utilized a simple front side trigger. Stays on back side and works to contact with rotational actions. Loose hand path to baseball with a line drive plane through extension. Primarily looked to work between the gaps and generated solid carry when on time and squared. Also pitched showing a smooth paced side step delivery. Stays balanced at gather and works to the plate with drop and drive actions. Released from a three-quarters slot created some downhill plane through the zone with a fastball that topped at 74 miles per hour. Breaking ball flashed tight spin with late, hard depth in the mid 60's. Consistently worked to each edge of the plate and attacked hitters while on the mound. Good student.
