Alexander Hunter is a 2019 RHP/3B with a 5-11 193 lb. frame from Bakersfield, CA who attends Bakersfield. Medium frame with a solid build. Ran a 7.80 sixty yard dash. Primary right handed pitcher with a simple side step delivery to medium leg lift. Stays tall on back side at gather and employs tall and fall actions while working ot he plate. Hides baseball well from a deep arm circle and releases from a near over top arm slot. Fastball has solid cutting action to the glove side with occasional heavy action through the zone between 79-82 miles per hour. Curveball has 12-to-6 shape with tight rotation and good depth when staying on top of offering in the low 70's. Consistently produced swings and misses with fastball and induced weak ground ball contact through each inning of work. Also worked out defensively from the infield with developing footwork while surrounding the baseball. Flashed good first step actions with some range to each side. Throws had soft, on line carry to the bag topping at 78 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with an upright, open stance. Lower half launches to contact with linear actions generating some shift. Turns barrel to baseball aggressively when working to the pull side gap. Shows best path and balanced when working to the middle of the field on a level, line drive path through extension. Good student. Named to the 2016 Cal Underclass Top Prospect List.
