Jacob Edwards is a 2018 3B/RHP/MIF with a 5-9 180 lb. frame from Lawrenceville, GA who attends Hebron Christian Academy. Medium frame with present strength. Primary third baseman with smooth, athletic footwork while ranging for and surrounding the baseball. Funnels out front and worked through exchange with fluidity. Showed good arm strength with the ability to throw with accuracy while on the run, topped at 86 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with an upright, slightly open stance and large leg lift trigger. Shifts into contact with linear lower half actions. Showed present bat speed with strength at contact on a naturally leveraged plane through extension. Tends to create some hand wrap at load, showed best contact when hands loaded cleanly back allowing for a smooth path to contact. Also pitched utilized an up tempo, leg lift delivery. Released from a high three-quarters arm slot producing solid downward plane in the low to mid 80's, topped at 84 miles per hour. Changes speeds with a Curveball, slider, changeup and cutter. Flashed solid feel for each offering and consistently changed speed while o the mound. Curveball flashed best swing and miss potential showing sharp 12/6 depth. Good student. Named to the 2017 Southeast Uncommitted Showcase, Top Prospect List.
