James Epplen is a 2018 OF with a 6-0 175 lb. frame from Edgewood, KY who attends St. Henry District HS. Large frame with athletic, highly projectable present build with some present strength. Ran 60 yard dash in 7.17 seconds. Sets up to hit from wide-based stance with open front hip and lower hand set. Compact hand path through swing with good hand quickness, line drive swing plane, shifts well into contact and does a good job taking the barrel directly to the ball. Flashed solid pop to the pull field as well. Worked out defensively in the outfield, moves in on the ball well and shows good balance through footwork, fields cleanly and maintains momentum through the ball, has looseness and whip to arm action, showed good accuracy with carry on throws clocked up to 83 MPH. Good student.
