2016 Ohio Valley Showcase
Tyler Bosma is a 2018 LHP/OF, 1B with a 6-6 185 lb. frame from Holland, MI who attends West Ottawa High School Campus. XL frame with long, lean build at present, extremely projectable moving forward. Ran 60 yard dash in 7.10 seconds. Primary pitcher, compact arm action with high take back, lands slightly closed with front foot and creates crossfire but can clear hips well and get downhill with authority. Fastball worked 78-81 MPH with good arm side life, tough for hitters to pick up out of hand, velocity is definitely projectable moving forward. Showed curveball in mid-60's with 1/7 shape and good depth, will sharpen up with increased repetitions but raw feel to spin the ball is good. Changeup was the go-to pitch, very deceptive out of hand with fading life, sequenced well with the pitch and attacked hitters throughout his time on the mound. Sets up to hit from spread out stance, shows compact and direct bat path with barrel getting on plane early. Good leverage at contact, ball jumps off his bat and definitely projects for some serious power with increased strength. Showed well defensively too, moves well to the ball in the outfield and fields cleanly out front, gets rid of the ball quickly with quick release, arm strength clocked up to 83 MPH. Worked out at 1st base as well, fields well out front and shows comfortability in footwork around the bag, quick release to both 2B and 3B, made accurate throws up to 80 MPH. Excellent student, named to 2016 Ohio Valley Showcase Top Prospect List.
