Andrew Shoultz is a 2018 C/RHP/1B with a 6-2 205 lb. frame from Scurry, TX who attends Scurry-Rosser HS. Large frame with broad shoulder and present strength. Primary catcher with a low, athletic stance while receiving. Gains some ground while working out of crouch. Clean, fluid exchanges and released from a compact three-quarters slot. Throws produced accurate carry to the bag topping at 76 miles per hour, best workout pop time of 1.97. Right handed hitter with an upright, slightly open stance and large leg lift trigger. Stays on back side and works to contact with rotational lower half actions. Loose, extended hand path to contact and created a slightly lifted barrel plane through extension. Swung with intent and looked to drive the ball with authority between the gaps. Also pitched utilizing a simple side step to high leg lift delivery. Stays tall on back side at gather and works to the plate with drop and drive actions. Loose arm circle at take back and released from a high three-quarters slot. Fastball created some downhill plane through the zone with running action to arm side in the low to mid 80's, topped at 85 miles per hour. Curveball had 11/5 shape with good spin and late, hard depth in the upper 60's. Changeup flashed some fade to arm side in the low 70's. Showed good feel for all three pitches and consistently changed speeds while on the mound. Good student. Named to the 2017 South Top Prospect Showcase, Top Prospect List.
