Jorel Ortega is a 2019 SS/3B with a 6-1 190 lb. frame from Lake Worth, FL who attends Spanish River Community School. Recorded a 6.94 second 60-yard dash time. Large, physical frame with lots of present athleticism and strength. Primary shortstop with exemplary actions and footwork. Glides to the ball with sure steps to the ball. Plus arm strength recorded up to 93 mph across. Very good balance, body control, and the ability to throw from multiple arm slots with intent. Righthanded hitter with very good present bat speed. Whips the barrel hard and gets extended nicely when out in front. Small toe tap trigger into the swing with a high hand set and high back elbow. Extremely strong wrists and hands, drives the ball with authority from gap-to-gap, and can improve some power with additional lower half incorporation. Good student. Named to the 2018 Florida Prospect Showcase Top Prospect List. Verbal commitment to Tennessee.
