Jared Owen is a 6'2" 198 pound 2007 right handed pitcher, first baseman, and outfielder from Jesuit High School in Tampa, Florida. He has a tall frame with good strength throughout his body. Jared pitches from an overhand arm slot with decent arm action. He has an upright delivery and fields his position very well allowing his middle infielders to shade towards the holes. His fastball was fairly straight at 78 mph and he showed good command of it by hitting both sides of the plate. His curveball has some good depth with 12/6 rotation at 68 mph. His change up was at 67 mph with slight run on it. At the plate, Owen has very good strength in his swing. His swing is very level and he has good balance in his swing even though he swings very hard. He gets good extension and shows some loft power. He starts with his hands high and has a quiet set up. He then explodes through the ball with his bat speed. He has good power to his pull side and he really hammers pitches on the inside part of the plate. Jared is a pull hitter who has a good upside.
