2018 California Prospect Showcase
Corbin Barker is a 2019 RHP/1B with a 6-3 215 lb. frame from Ridgecrest, CA who attends Immanuel Christian. Large frame with broad shoulder, long limbs and present strength. Primary right handed pitcher with a simple side step to medium leg lift delivery. Stays balanced on back side at gather and worked to the plate with drop and drive actions. Clean arm circle at take back and released from a high three-quarters arm slot. Fastball came out of hand cleanly producing heavy downhill plane with sink in the mid to upper 80's, topped at 88 miles per hour. Tends to slow arm speed slightly with a slider offering that created short, tight tilt to glove side in the mid 70's. Consistently located to the bottom quadrants of the zone while effectively missing barrel and inducing weak contact. Also worked out defensively from first base showing deliberate footwork while working off the bag and centering the baseball. Funnels out front and worked through exchange efficiently. Displayed good arm strength while throwing across, topped at 87 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with an even, balanced stance and simple leg lift trigger. Works to contact with rotational lower half actions. Compact hand path to baseball with a line drive barrel plane through extension. Showed developing feel for the barrel with the strength to drive the ball through the gaps when squared. Primarily looked to throw barrel head with intent and produce lift at contact. Excellent student. Named to the 2018 California Prospect Showcase, Top Prospect List.
