David Thomas is a 2020 RHP/1B with a 6-4 210 lb. frame from Kensington, CA who attends Deerfield Academy. Extra-large, athletic frame with broad shoulders and present physical strength proportioned nicely throughout frame. Primary righthanded pitcher, steady tempo throughout delivery with hip turn at top; long arm action through the back working to an extended three-quarters at release. Shows short life to fastball when on top and working down in the zone, topped out at 83 mph, gets rotational at release at times; spun a nice curveball at 72 mph and can continue to implement the pitch more frequently into sequences. Moves well coming off the bag at first base, fields out front with some bend at the waist, works behind the ball well, strong throws across the diamond with similar arm action. Righthanded hitter, begins with a square stance in the box and a barrel tilt prior to load; simple swing without many moving parts and does a nice job of staying short to the baseball. Has looseness to hands and shows a handle for the barrel with occasional lift out front, has strength with carry when squared, projects with additional lower half incorporated. Excellent student.
