Gustavo Perez is a 2018 2B/SS with a 5-11 155 lb. frame from San Diego, CA who attends Bonita Vista. Medium frame with a lean, athletic build. Projects for additional strength while maintaining athleticism. Ran a 7.24 sixty-yard dash. Primary second baseman with clean, athletic footwork while ranging from and surrounding the baseball. Clean glove actions while funneling the baseball out front and worked through transfer with smooth, loose exchanges. Primarily released from a three-quarters arm slot but flashed the ability to change arm actions while throwing on the run. Produced accurate carry across the infield topping at 78 miles per hour. Left handed hitter with a spread, even stance and high back elbow set. Stays balanced and behind contact well while working to contact with rotational lower half actions. Direct hand path to contact with a level, line drive barrel plane through extension. Flashed good feel for the barrel and consistently worked to all fields throughout batting practice. Present bat speed through the zone that will continue to develop with physical maturity. Very good student as well.
