Marcus Gholston is a 2018 OF/1B with a 6-3 205 lb. frame from Valparaiso, IN who attends Valparaiso. Large frame with broad shoulders and a strong, athletic build. Ran a 6.94 sixty-yard dash. Primary outfielder with smooth paced, deliberate footwork while closing to the baseball. Clean glove actions while funneling with developing fluidity while working through exchange. Generated good momentum toward the bag and released from a compact three-quarters slot. Throws produced on line carry to the bag topping at 87 miles per hour. Left handed hitter with an upright, open stance and simple front side trigger. Shifts into contact with linear lower half actions. Simple, direct hand path to baseball with a line drive plane through extension. Swung with intent and flashed present bat speed through extension. Primarily looked to turn the barrel to contact and work to pull side creating good carry when squared. Good student. Named to the 2017 Midwest Top Prospect Showcase, Top Prospect List.
