Jason Bellew is a 2017 OF with a 6-3 205 lb. frame from Bossier City, LA who attends Evangel Christian Academy. Large, athletic frame with broad shoulders and present strength proportioned throughout frame. Ran a 7.01 70-yard dash. Primary outfielder, moves well to the ball with short and quick steps, fields the ball out to side but does a nice job of working over the front side, short arm action through the back, shows quickness to it and creates nice strength and carry out of the hand, strides open, projects with addtional lower half and directionality into release. Righthanded hitter, begins with an open and narrow stance, high hand set in the box. Short stride moving into contact, employs a pull side approach and stay short through the zone. Has a feel for the barrel and shows quickness to hands, repeats mechanics well and shows strength off the barrel when squared. Very good student.
