John Macdonald is a 2018 RHP/3B, OF with a 6-2 195 lb. frame from Quincy, MA who attends Boston College High School. Large frame with athletic, projectable build. Ran 60 yard dash in 7.28 seconds. Primary pitcher, deliberate pace, balanced online delivery, compact arm stroke to overtop slot, quality arm speed, fastball worked 81-84 mph with flashes of plane when on time over front side. Very good curveball, thrown with 11/5 shape and very late, sharp bite; swing-and-miss pitch at present. Hits from slightly spread, slightly open stance; shifts weight well and generates torque, flashes bat speed with whole-field approach, showed ability to drive the ball to the pull field. Clean routes and reads in the outfield, fields cleanly and shows quick, clean arm with very good strength, up to 86 mph on throws. Shows solid hands in the infield, worked to both sides well, makes the plays efficiently, shows off good arm across, clocked up to 84 mph.
