2017 PG Top Prospect Games at TCU
Avery Felts is a 2019 OF/SS with a 6-2 180 lb. frame from Bono, AR who attends Westside High School. Large, athletic frame with square shoulders and a lean, projectable build, shows present strength to frame. Primary outfielder, fields hte ball to side, quick transfer into an upright release, compact and quick arm action through the back side help generate nice present velocity on throws, takes short steps moving towards the ball, shows carry on throws with on line accuracy. Also pitched, similar short arm action through the back getting to a three-quarters release point. Hides the ball well and gets on top of fastball, mostly true in life and topped out at 82 mph with short running life at times; changeup showed fading life to arm side at 74 mph. Righthanded hitter, begins with a wide base in the box and a medium hand set at the plate. Upper body dominant swing, did a nice job of finding the barrel in live action and did so consistently; linear swing path through the zone with ability to go with the pitch and work all fields. Hits the ball out front, occasionally stays too inside the ball but shows quickness to hands and bat speed through the zone, projects with consistent timing trigger. Very good student.
