2015 Northeast Underclass Showcase
Dave Yankowski is a 2018 RHP/SS, IF with a 5-9 170 lb. frame from Valatie, NY who attends Ichabod Crane Senior. Medium frame with solid present build, good remaining projection on frame. Primary pitcher, uses longer arm action up to high 3/4 slot, slightly inconsistent release point, generates solid arm speed, works down in the zone well and elicited lots of weak contact on the ground, worked quickly and attacked hitters with FB that ranged from 77-80 and topped at 81. Mixed in CB with 11/5 shape and solid depth as well as good straight CH with deception and excellent velocity differential from FB. Hits from slightly open stance with inside-out swing approach, showed solid hands to and through the zone, inconsistent weight transfer into contact from backside, some loft in swing, made solid contact up the middle and to pull field, solid strength off the barrel. Showed quality fundamentals defensively, moved well to the ball, surrounds it and picks it cleanly, smooth double crow hop with quick release, threw as high as 82 MPH across the IF. Named to 2015 Northeast Underclass Showcase Top Prospect List. Very good student.
