2015 Atlantic Coast Underclass Showcase
Evan Mauldin is a 2018 RHP/OF with a 5-11 150 lb. frame from Belmont, NC who attends South Point. Medium frame with athletic, lean build and excellent projection remaining. Ran well, posting a 6.74 seconds 60 yard dash time. Primary pitcher, shows longer arm action with clean and smooth arm stroke to mid 3/4 slot, FB worked 79-82 touching 83 with excellent natural heaviness and sink. Works down in zone to both sides of plate, uses lower half well. Showed very good feel for SL with sharp, two plane break and good command of pitch. Also flashed CH with good arm speed and velocity separation. High upside arm. Hits with synchronized barrel tip in load, generates good bat speed with quick hands, smooth stroke with jump off the barrel and highly projectable hitting tools. Attacks the ball well in the OF, moves well, fields cleanly and transfers well to throwing hand, OF velocity topped at 83 MPH. Well-rounded potential two way prospect. Named to 2015 Atlantic Coast Underclass Showcase Top Prospect List. Very good student.
