Brandon Petix is a 2018 LHP/1B with a 6-6 210 lb. frame from Port Neches, TX who attends Port Neches-Groves HS. Petix has a large frame with a long projectable build. He pitches from a 3/4 arm slot with a shorter arm action. He has some wrap in back and has some arm speed through release. His front hip leaks in his delivery and his front foot lands pointed open. Petix spins over his front leg and he lands on a firm frontside. There's a lot more velocity in there with improved lower half mechanics to utilize his long levers. He gets some sink on his fastball and he also throws a 1/7 curve ball with some shape to it. He also throws a change up at 69 MPH with good arm speed. He's a very interesting young follow to see how he'll develop with adjustments. Defensively he showed developing actions at 1B and developing actions in the outfield. At the plate, Petix starts with a busy load and takes a hack. He has some bat speed and made contact to the middle of the field to the pullside. Very good student.
