Carter Young is a 2019 SS/C with a 6-0 165 lb. frame from Selah, WA who attends Selah HS. Large frame with athleticism and high levels of projection throughout. Ran 60 yard dash in 7.23 seconds. Switch-hitter, showed good bat speed with jump off the barrel from left side with clean launch angle and the ability to drive the ball. Showed more of a line drive swing plane from the right side with a touch less bat speed, still controlled barrel well and showed good ability to square up the ball. Very good defensively in two spots, smooth feet to both sides in the infield with easy range and balance, clean actions with glove and shows quality release across diamond with arm strength up to 78 MPH. Receives well behind the plate and shows good twitch in explosion out of crouch, very quick release with accuracy to the bag, popped as low as 2.01 seconds and threw 75 MPH. Pitched as well, shorter arm action to high three quarters arm slot, good arm speed with fastball that worked 78-81 MPH. Showed good slider with sharp horizontal movement. Named to 2016 Northwest Showcase Top Prospect List. Very good student.
