2015 Atlantic Coast Top Prospect Showcase
Reid Johnston is a 2017 3B/RHP with a 6-1 175 lb. frame from Enfield, NC who attends Rocky Mount Academy. Large frame with athletic, lean present build and good physical projection remaining on body. Hits from open stance, leg lift trigger with extended stride, will drift to front side some, shows leveraged swing with present strength and excellent overall power projection. Shows good ability to generate backspin and loft balls into the gaps, HR power will continue to develop with additional strength gains. Shows barrel control and overall easy, smooth swing with good bat speed. Fielded well in the infield, gets in good centered position to field, shows lateral agility and foot quickness, soft hands with clean actions, quality arm strength with IF velocity topping at 80 MPH. Pitched as well, stands tall on backside and has drop and drive delivery, hides ball well, longer arm actions to 3/4 slot, FB worked 83-85 with good arm side life. Showed CB with 11/5 shape and excellent depth; overall highly projectable arm. Named to 2015 Atlantic Coast Top Showcase Top Prospect List. Good student.
