Carter Williams is a 2017 SS/3B with a 6-0 173 lb. frame from Cornelius, NC who attends William Amos Hough HS. Large frame with a lean, athletic build. Very projectable body that will continue to add strength and size. Right handed hitter with a balanced stance and leg lift trigger. Compact, direct path to contact with a line drive swing plane. Creates some leverage through extension at times. Primarily used a mid-field approach with the ability to turn barrel to pitched middle-in. Shows nice jump off the barrel when squared that can easily split the gaps. Worked out defensively from the infield showing smooth, fundamental footwork while surroudning the baseball. Clean glove actions while funneling the baseball out front. Gets rid of the baseball quickly with clean glove to hand exchanges into an high three-quarters arm slot at release. Throws produce solid carry across the infield with accuracy, topped at 84 mph. Good first step angles to each side with good range, ran a 6.77 sixty-yard dash. Tools will continue to develop with physical maturity and repetition. Good student. Committed to Presbyterian.
