John McRae is a 2018 SS/2B/3B with a 6-2 195 lb. frame from Hahira, GA who attends Valwood HS. Large frame with with broad shoulders and a strong build. Primary shortstop with smooth paced, sound footwork while traveling to and surrounding the baseball. Clean glove actions while funneling the baseball out front. Flashed solid range to each side and worked through exchange with deliberate actions. Showed good arm strength generating accurate carry across the infield at 85 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with an even, crouched stance and toe tap trigger. Swung with intent on a naturally leveraged barrel plane through extension. Showed developing feel for the barrel but flashed present bat speed and strength that created very loud contact to the middle of the field when squared. Good student as well.
