Thomas Carter is a 2019 1B/RHP/OF with a 6-0 150 lb. frame from Rancho Santa Fe, CA who attends Cathedral Catholic HS. Large frame with a lean, athletic build. Projects for additional size with strength. Right handed hitter with a straight, balanced stance and high hand/back elbow set. Hands load to a deep, strong position. Creates some lower half shift into contact. Loose, line drive swing plane while creating good extension through contact. Hands come through the zone very clean with a mid-field approach. Solid barrel skills throughout the zone with repeatable mechanics. Swing projects well when continue physical development. Worked out defensively from the outfield and first base. From first base showing clean actions throughout with smooth glove actions. Good athletic actions while working around the bag with soft hands. From the outfield shows the same athletic actions with smooth exchanges through transition. Long arm cirlce at separation with a clean three-quarters arm slot. Throws produce good carry to the bag with accuracy. Also pitched using a longer arm stroke from a high three-quarters slot. Clean arm action and lower half through acceleration. Fastball comes out of hand cleanly with some downhill angle, topped at 78 mph. Good feel with a slider that had tiltlting shape away with deceptive spin out of hand. Also shows a curveball had softer spin with some downward depth. Missed barrels consistently with slider down in the zone. High projectbale frame on the mound with developing command. Solid two way prospect. Good student as well.
