Dean Davis is a 2022 C/1B with a 6-1 205 lb. frame from Columbia, PA who attends James Madison. Strong build and body projects very well, he posted a 7.69 in the 60 yard dash. Primary catcher, looked confident with his mechanics and moved very well. Quiet receiver, his hands were soft and transferred smooth. Displayed great footwork, he was quick out of a low stance and showed good flexibility in the legs. Has a quick arm and had accurate throws on the bag, there is some room to fill in the strength gaps in the arm but he proved to be very efficient with his present tools with a great feel for his craft. Right handed hitter, works with an athletic stance with a high hand and back elbow set. Put on a promising showing of the present strength in the lower half and hands applied to the swing in sync. The ball jumped off contactl, there is some advanced power potential with polished barrel skills, certainly makes it work now and swings with purpose. High effort hacks were under control showing slight down barrel path with good bat speed. Displayed gap to gap power, very solid connections with some carry on the ball. Strong tools, aggressive actions and durable frame has a lot of upside as he progresses. Good student.
