2017 Atlantic Coast Top Prospect Showcase
Caleb McRoy is a 2018 OF/LHP, 1B with a 6-2 175 lb. frame from Raleigh, NC who attends Wakefield HS. Good speed and athleticism; recorded a 6.87 second 60-yard dash time. Lean and athletic frame with present twitch muscle. Primary outfielder with very good arm strength, recorded up to 90 mph. Very fluid and easy actions that work through the ball well. Throws were low to the ground with excellent carry and accuracy. Secondary lefthanded pitcher with a full arm path and stays tall on the back side. Higher three-quarter arm slot with a leg lift up to the belt. Gets good extension down the mound and can work the fastball to both sides. Fastball up to 83 mph that flashed short run to the arm side. Three pitches for strikes including a curveball that flashes sharpness low in the zone. Lefthanded hitter with a spread open stance and a wide base. Linear weight shift through the lower half and strides into contact. Keeps hands close to the body and showed the ability to make adjustments and pull the barrel through the strike zone. Named to the 2017 Atlantic Coast Top Prospect Showcase Top Prospect List. Outstanding student.
