2017 Sunshine Southeast Showcase
Matthew Mamatas is a 2018 SS/2B with a 5-9 160 lb. frame from McDonough, GA who attends Ola HS. Recorded a 6.72 60-yard dash time. Smaller frame with athleticism and quick twitch throughout. Primary shortstop and showed a quick gather and release from the position. The footwork was solid and the arm strength was above average. The release on his throws were very impressive. Bat wag for a timing and rhythm mechanism at the plate. Showed quick hands and the ability to find the barrel on swings. Consistently drove the ball up the middle on line drives. Swings with intent to drive the baseball and showed the versatility to play both infield positions up the middle. Named to the 2017 Sunshine Southeast Showcase Top Prospect Team. Great student.
