Ben Coulthard is a 2018 OF/RHP with a 6-1 175 lb. frame from Nashville, TN who attends Montgomery Bell Academy. Tall and slender athletic build, wide shoulders, lots of room to get stronger, projects well physically. Right handed hitter, narrow upright stance, big stride into contact, stride leaves him off balance and diving in frequently, swings hard with an inside swing path, mid to opposite field contact, has some hitting tools to develop with adjustments and additional strength. 7.19 runner, moves to the ball well in the outfield, has some raw arm strength with young footwork. Also pitched, busy delivery with lots of moving parts, backward lean into hunched over move forward, throws cross body. Fastball topped at 84 mph, has obvious arm strength but mechanics will have to be simplified in order to be a pitcher. Did not throw any off speed. Good student.
