Bret Buursema is a 2020 2B/IF/OF with a 5-9 150 lb. frame from Woodstock, GA who attends Blessed Trinity Catholic HS. Medium frame with a lean, athletic build. Ran a 7.10 sixty-yard dash. Primary second baseman with clean footwork while moving to and surrounding the baseball. Funnels the baseball with fluidity and worked through exchange well. Flashed the ability to throw while on the run from multiple arm slots, topped at 81 miles per hour. Also worked out defensively from the outfield showing high energy footwork while closing to the baseball. Maintains momentum to the bag while working through the baseball. Clean exchanges and released from a high three-quarters arm slot creating some online carry to the bag at 81 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with an upright, open stance and simple leg lift trigger. Works to contact with rotational lower half actions. Loose hand path to baseball with a naturally lifted barrel plane. Looked to create contact out front while employing a mid field approach. Flashed some carry off the barrel to the gap when on time and squared. Excellent student.
