2016 Spring Top Prospect Showcase
Ryan Bader is a 2017 LHP with a 6-2 160 lb. frame from Mukwonago, WI who attends Mukwonago HS. Young athletic body, very projectable physically. Big leg raise delivery with a full and loose arm action, lands about 6" closed out front but gets around his front side well and creates angle to the plate, repeats his mechanics well and pitches under control. Fastball topped out at 84 mph, worked fastball mostly arm side and spots it well. Change up is a quality pitch he throws with conviction and feel. Slurve type curveball has good spin and he gets lots of called strikes with it due to mixing and late break. Can use all his pitches with maturity and in any count. Would like to see more of an ability to spot the ball glove side but that and more velocity should come with time. Should become a very solid college level pitcher. Interestingly ran a 6.85 sixty. Outstanding student, verbal commitment to Northwestern.
