David Covarrubias is a 2018 OF/LHP/1B with a 5-9 185 lb. frame from La Habra, CA who attends La Habra HS. Compact strong build, especially in the lower half., pretty mature physically. 7.33 runner, showed good hands and athleticism in the outfield, good routes and made some good catches in left field, easy arm action and could improve his arm strength with more lower half use. Left handed hitter, high leg lift trigger, short rotational swing with some hand quickness, hands work well through the ball, pull to mid field approach, ball comes off the barrel pretty well. Also pitched, works from the stretch with a simple compact delivery, 3/4's arm slot, fastball topped out at 82 mph early, some short sinking action when down in the zone, flashed a big breaking 12/6 curveball when on time with it.
