John Brinkman is a 2016 3B/RHP with a 5-11 195 lb. frame from Worden, IL who attends St Louis University HS. Strong well proportioned athletic build, fairly mature physically. Good two-way prospect. Shows foot work and first step quickness defensively, has arm strength with on line accuracy, will be solid overall at third base. Right handed hitter, busy load that can be calmed down for more consistency, aggressive swing approach with good loose extension out front, creates bat speed and attacks the ball, line drive swing plane, will occasionally drop his back shoulder looking to lift the ball, has the hitting tools and strength to keep developing. Looked solid on the mound as well, high energy delivery with some deception, high 3/4's arm slot from a compact arm action. Steady mid-80's fastball, gets downhill to the bottom of the zone and has some heaviness, gets on hitter's quickly. Showed good depth on a sweeping slurve type slider. Grades out well in all aspects of the game. Outstanding student.
