2005 Atlantic Coast Top Prospect Showcase
McGrath is a 6-0, 175 lb senior shortstop from Pennsylvania. He's a 7.14 runner who shows good speed on the base paths and good range on defense. McGrath was very impressive on offense at the showcase. He has good bat speed at the plate with above average hand/eye coordination. Probably the best thing about McGrath's offensive approach was his aggressiveness. He really attacks the ball when he swings and shows surprising power and ability to drive the ball hard into the gaps. He made consistent hard contact and was one of the events better offensive performers. McGrath's speed on the bases is helped by his aggressive play as well. Defensively, McGrath struggled in the infield, where his aggressiveness doesn't help him make plays. He may be better suited for the outfield at the next level, where his bat can carry him. McGrath is also a very good student.
