Karnell Irby is a 2016 SS/OF with a 5-8 150 lb. frame from Corinth, TX who attends Ryan. Medium, athletic build with a lean, projectable frame and room to fill out with additional strength. Strong runner, posted a 6.80 60-yard dash. Primary middle infielder, quick actions on feet, longer takeaway to short arm action, gets on top of throws, showed athleticism on charge coming in. Similar arm action from the outfield, quick arm, ball comes out clean with strength and carry, good footwork through the ball. Right-handed hitter, starts with a slightly open stance, low hand set and a high back elbow. High leg lift with short stride into contact. Simple mechanics, short and direct path to the ball and repeats it well. Quickness in hands, contact approach but shows some strength coming off the barrel. Line drive swing plane, feel for the barrel, best contact comes to pull side. Good student.
