Alex Oliver is a 2007 MIF/2B from North Hunterdon HS in Lebanon, NJ, with a 5'9'', 170 lb. frame and good strength in his lower half. He ran the 60 in 7.49 and threw 77 mph during infield drills. Oliver showed nice actions in the infield, with good balanced feet and soft hands. His arm strength was still developing but the rest of his defensive package plays well. Oliver hits out of a high handed approach with a slight crouch and busy feet. He's ready to hit when it's time to get the bat started. He has very nice bat speed and uses his hands very well to hit. Oliver stays inside the ball well and drives through it with his hands. He showed good opposite field power during batting practice and showed he could turn on the ball a bit during games. Oliver has a good looking swing with good balance and the ability to handle the bat head. He should continue to improve as he gains strength and has nice present hitting skills. Good follow.
