Austin Kay is a 2013 MIF/3B with a 5-8 148 lb. frame from Carlsbad, CA who attends Canyon Crest Academy. Kay has a smaller frame with a thin lean build. He has good footwork defensively and works through the ball well. Good defensive actions with quick transfers and release. He has some arm strength with carry on his throws. Kay made a good charging play in game at 3B and showed body control. At the plate, he starts with a square stance with a no load approach. He swings on a line drive path with developing bat speed. There's more bat speed in there with better rhythm and aggression to the ball. Kay is a solid runner who showed good base running skills in game. Outstanding student.
