Devin Smeltzer is a 2014 LHP/OF with a 6-2 170 lb. frame from Voorhees, NJ who attends Bishop Eustace Prep. Long and slender young build, looks taller than listed, big feet, lots of physical projection. High leg raise delivery with lots of energy, extended 3/4's arm action, lots going on but repeats delivery very well and shows athleticism. Fastball up to 88 mph, saw 89-91 consistently a week later, good fastball life with tough angle for hitters. Hard spinning slurve type breaking ball with big depth at times, can control depth and location on breaking ball. Did not see a change up but should become a big part of arsenal in the future. Present pitchability and deception and very projectable, just a matter of time before he gets stronger and blossoms. Verbal commitment to Florida Gulf Coast. Selected to the Perfect Game All-American Classic.
