Lawson is a 6-2, 170 lb senior right handed pitcher from South Carolina who has some projection left physically. He has a high leg kick to start his delivery with some backward lean and a full arm circle in back. Lawson's fastball was 80-82 mph and fairly straight but he spotted the ball well. His best pitch was a 68-71 mph curveball that was sharp at times with good 2 plane break. Lawson showed the ability to throw his curveball for strikes at any time in the count, which made the pitch even better. Lawson's information sheet lists "Command of 4 pitches" as one of his strengths, but we didn't see any other pitches. If he has a change up or slider that is comparible to his curveball in quality or command, that would definitely up his overall evaluation. Good follow for the right college program and level. Good student.
