Valdez is 6-2 southpaw who was effective throwing his assortment of off-speed pitches for strikes. Valdez topped out at 75 mph on his fastball with good running and sinking action. His change up was 61-63 mph and had some outstanding sinking action to it, much like a palm ball or some other trick pitch. Valdez’s curveball was around 60 mph. He is not a power pitcher but he does a good job of keeping hitters off balance.
