Anthony Gibellina is a 2008 OF/P/1B from Neuqua Valley HS in Naperville, IL, with a 5'10'', 160 lb. frame and developing strength. He ran the 60 in 7.65 and showed very good arm strength from both the outfield and from first base during drills. His 82 mph throws from the outfield are very good for a sophomore prospect. Gibellina hits from a balanced approach with a short, compact swing and really attacks the ball aggressively. He has well above average hand quickness for his age and generates nice bat speed. Gibellina uses the whole field well and can drive the ball to the gaps. He's a very good looking young hitter who should continue to improve as he adds strength. Gibellina also pitched and while his arm strength didn't fully translate to the mound, he did show potential. His fastball topped out at 76 mph and his 63 mph curveball had good spin and bite to it. Gibellina is a high energy player who competes very hard, even in a showcase environment, and is going to get the most out of his ability. And he has plenty of ability in a number of different areas on the baseball field. Gibellina is a very good follow and should be watched carefully. He is also a good student.
