Dean Roland is a 2010 RHP/3B with a 6'2'', 165 lb. frame from West Grove, PA who attends Avon Grove. Dean has a tall, lean athletic build that projects to add a good amound of strength. On the mound Dean throws from a low 3/4 arm slot with a short loose arm action that produces good armside run. His velocity projects well and he gets a nice downhill plane on his pitches, but he needs to work on finishing better to the plate. Dean is around the plate with all of his pitches and has feel for a very solid straight change-up as well as a 10 to 4 curveball. At the plate Dean is primarily a contact hitter that will go to all fields. He swing is too long at this point and he needs to work on getting a lot more leverage behind the ball. In the field Dean best projects in the outfield where he shows solid range to go along with good raw arm strength. Dean is a projectable prospect that should attract the attention of many mid to high-level college programs as he gets stronger.
