PG Grade: 7
Jake Johnson is a 2005 slender right handed hitting catcher from Martinsburg, West Virginia. His best skills in Ft Myers were on offense. He has very good bat speed, quick hands and a level line drive swing. Johnson tends to get out early on his front side, which costs him some power, but he did show very good ability to center the ball and had a couple of good game hits. He moves well behind the plate and he's a very good receiver. Jake played much better in the live games than he showed in the workout portion. He can play and projects nicely. We found out later that Jake was suffering from a pinched nerve in his throwing arm. So we're sure he throws much better when healthy.
