John Kent is a 2008 RHP/3B with a 5'11'', 205 lb. frame from Billings, Montana, who attends Skyview High School. Kent is stocky with present strength in his body. On the mound he throws from a high 3/4 arm slot with clean arm action. He has solid mechanics and he throws with no effort. Kent has a quick arm that helped produce a fastball that topped out at 83 mph. He hit his spots, and he gets cut actions at times on his fastball that helped break two bats in game action. His secondary pitches are developing. He throws a 69 mph curveball, and he mixes in a 74 mph change with sink at times. Kent struck out 4 in 3 innings of work. Defensively he has good instincts, and he made a nice play on a line drive to his glove side in game action. At the plate he is a right handed hitter who hits from an open stance. Kent is an aggressive hitter, who shows bat speed through the zone. There is strength in his swing giving him projectable power. He has a good eye. Kent has upside.
