J D Sutton is a 2007 RHP/1B/3B with a 6'5'', 225 lb. frame from Overland Park KS, who attends Blue Valley West HS. He has a big, strong frame that would look very good to a college football recruiter and has athletic actions for his size. Sutton has a quick, efficient delivery and a smooth arm action and the ball comes out of his hand easily. His fastball was 82-84 mph but it looked like he was the type of pitcher, with his strength/delivery/arm action that is normally a mid to upper 80's thrower when he's in throwing shape. All the PG scouts remarked on the same thing and it won't surprise us if that's what we hear he's doing next spring. Sutton's curveball was 69 mph with good spin and he mixed in a couple of 71 mph change ups. Offensively, Sutton has an all or nothing approach at the plate and hit a few balls out in batting practice. He's dangerous if you leave a ball in the middle of the plate. Keep a close eye on Sutton next spring, he could be a big surprise. He is also a good student.
