Tyler Krobetzky is a 2008 left hand hitting catcher/1st baseman from University HS, residing in Irvine, CA. He has a 6'1" 180 lb. frame with a strong, physical build and a powerfully built lower half. Krobetzky has strength that many young hitters lack and the type of physicallity that scouts love. He is still a bit raw in his approach and fundamentals of the swing, but he gets his hits, even when he misses the barrel. Krobetzky sets up well and looks the part of a physical hitter at the plate. His hands work well and when he does not lean or tip over, he is a dangerous hitter, with good present day power, particularly to the pull side. He swings with the intent to hit the ball hard each time he swings and that approach is a positive. Behind the plate Krobetzky showed himself to be a good receiver. He sees the ball well out of the pitcher's hand and his actions are pretty quiet, displaying good blocking technique. He has strong hands and presents a nice target to throw to. His workout pop times were a competitive 2.15 and should get better as he continues to work at the game. With his power potential and profile as a left hand hitting catcher, Krobetzky is a D1 prospect with a chance to develop into a pro follow.
