Blake Gibbs is a 2008 C/IF with a 6'1'', 208 lb. frame from Bellevue, WA, who attends Newport HS. Gibbs has a good frame with present strength in his body. Defensively he is aggressive behind the plate. He has raw arm strength and makes solid throws. Gibbs sets up well and receives with soft hands giving the umpires a good look. He works hard behind the plate. Offensively he is a right handed hitter who hits from an average base. Gibbs is an aggressive hitter who attacks pitches in the zone. He has bat speed through the zone, and he can drive the ball well. For an aggressive hitter, he does a good job keeping his hands inside the ball showing the ability to hit to all fields. He stays back on off-speed pitches, and should hit for average as well as power. He can hit. Gibbs also runs well for his size, and he has upside. Gibbs is a good student as well.
